Introducing Product Walkthroughs

After the first full week of Beta, the feedback about MeetingCaddy has led us to the introduction of Product Walkthroughs.  This will help users get acquainted with the features and how they work.

Microphone Controls - We use OS-level APIs to mute/unmute the microphones on the system.  Some apps (like Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) reflect the status of the muted microphone in their products. If a user unmutes the microphone from within these apps, the status of MeetingCaddy will show that the microphone is unmuted.

Zoom, unfortunately, prefers a hot-mic.  This means that the Zoom app is always listening to you and just not transmitting the voice when the microphone is muted in Zoom.  They do not track the OS level controls, but we have tested this feature enough to confidently state that when MeetingCaddy says you are muted, Zoom will not be able to hear you.

Video Controls - We had to introduce a filter driver to let the user control the video signals.  When the user disables video from MeetingCaddy, our filter driver stops sending video signals to the conferencing app.  But, for this to work, the user must select the 'MeetingCaddy Virtual Webcam' interface.
